The county fair continues, as does the Free Music on the Lake series. And festival season kicks into gear.

Crawford County Fair
The Rodeo is Wednesday, July 31, and Thursday, August 1; the Tractor Pull is Friday, August 2; and, the Demolition Derby is Saturday, August 3. If you prefer live music, the fair provides several choices for that as well. Area 51 (jazzy rock) performs Wednesday, Stone Country performs Thursday, BJ & the Barnstormers (classic country) perform Friday, and the J3 Trio (classic rock) perform Saturday. See more.

Festival season begins
End of summer and fall festivals are kicking into gear. Street dances, horse shoe and corn hole tournaments, and much more at each of these. The Downtown Arma Festival with V-J Homecoming is August 8-11. The Pittsburg ArtWalk Fall Festival is Friday, August 16. The Big Brutus Polka Fest is Saturday, August 24 – and is a great time to see their new edition, a shovel made from junk that inspired the design for Big Brutus. The Walnut Days Festival is Saturday, August 31 (above photo is from the 2018 antique tractor pull). Plus, the Little Balkans Days Festival is August 31-September 2. See more.

Links Fore Veterans Charity Golf Tournament
Vetlinks.org presents Links Fore Veterans, a charity golf tournament held on Saturday, August 10 at Crestwood Country Club in Pittsburg. The funds raised during the 3-man scramble supports combat veterans & caregivers struggling from the effects of Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, Traumatic Brain Injury, and Substance Abuse Disorder. Live Performances
The Free Music on the Lake series continue at Lake Crawford State Park north of Farlington: Shane Duling on August 2, Stone Cutter Union with John Duling on August 9, Chase Bryant on August 16, Allen Ross on August 23, and Jeff Culver on August 30. The Colonial Fox is hosting a Back to Broadway Celebration in Downtown Pittsburg, featuring the Ben Miller Band on August 17; and, another Soundcheck, this time with Zero to Panic is on August 24. Looking Ahead…
Little Balkans Days Festival continues September 1-2. Cherokee Fall Festival Homecoming is September 6-8. Arcadia’s Old Settlers Days is September 13-14. Greenbush Day is September 15. The Downtown Weir Festival with Homecoming is September 20-22. The McCune Fall Festival with Homecoming is September 27-29. Festa Italiana is September 28. And a new event is coming to the Four State Farm Show site south of Pittsburg… the World Class Hunting Expo, September 27-29.
