Once upon a time, food, dancing, games, parades, and storytelling were an excuse for immigrants, neighbors and visitors to meet, share diverse cultures, and create new traditions. Every community in Crawford County continues these annual traditions.
Labor Day honors the railroaders, miners, and their loved ones who fought for fair and safe work environments. Homecomings were originally celebrations of veterans returning home from war. And, to share the heritage of students from around the world attending the university here with locals, the community partners with Pittsburg State to host numerous international festivals, including Holi Festival of Colors, Diwali Festival of Lights, and a Tastes and Sounds of Nations.
