Arma Veteran’s Memorial

Check out the Arma Veteran’s Memorial, located at the southeast corner of the city park. The idea for the Veteran’s Memorial came up after W.W.II. The American Legion wanted something to honor local veterans. The City of Arma did the construction. The structure was built shortly after the war. The City installed four new flags along with the American Flag, representing the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines. The plaque located behind the flags with names that represent local veterans who have served our country in any war. Arma is also home to the VJ Homecoming celebration that started in 1946 as a way to honor veterans returning from World War II. It has been said to be the oldest running VJ Day or WWII celebration in the country. It has evolved over the last five decades into a family festival held the second weekend in August. #CrawfordCounty365
