NJCAA eTeamSponsor National Football Championship

The NJCAA eTeamSponsor National Football Championship returns to Pittsburg, Kansas in 2020. Kickoff for this junior college national championship game has yet to be scheduled.

2018 was the first time the NJCAA national football championship was a standalone event and televised on live national television, via CBS Sports Network. No. 1 East Mississippi beat No. 2 Garden City in a 10-9 slug-fest on November 29, 2018 at Carnie Smith Stadium in Pittsburg, Kansas. The EMCC won their 5th national championship.

On December 5, 2019, the national title game returned to historic Carnie Smith Stadium, and No. 1 Mississippi Gulf Coast won their 2nd national championship by defeating No. 2 Lackawanna College, 24-13.

Kansas Shrine Bowl

Every four years since 2002, the Kansas Shrine Bowl has been held at Carnie Smith Stadium. This high school all-star game is scheduled to return to Pittsburg in 2022.
