Poll: Best Mexican Food on Cinco de Mayo

By Crawford County May 4, 2017

Of all the holidays celebrated around the U.S., Cinco de Mayo is probably one of the easiest dates to remember… as long as you know the three Spanish words it represents. How you celebrate is just as easy to remember: parades, parties, and eating are the name of the game.

Historically, Cinco de Mayo celebrates an unlikely victory of a small Mexican force against French invaders in 1861. Interestingly, the day is often celebrated more throughout the United States than in Mexico. Every May 5th is seen as a day to recognize Mexican-American culture and heritage.

To celebrate this year’s Cinco de Mayo, we put together a poll of the best Mexican restaurants in Crawford County. Here are the results, as chosen by you:

Honorable Mentions:

El Charro

3102 N Broadway St
Pittsburg, KS

El Charro’s lunch specials and a cup of guacamole will fill up almost anyone.

Guadalajara Mexican Grill

1620 S Broadway St
Pittsburg, KS

Taco Tuesday at Guadalajara is one you shouldn’t miss! And if you are in for a twist on traditional Mexican cuisine, try their cheesecake chimichangas for dessert.

Cafe Del Rio

202 East Centennial Drive
Pittsburg, KS

Don’t miss out on the queso dip. It’s a great starter before digging into a full size burrito.

And the winner is…

El Caballo de Oro

111 N Pine St
Pittsburg, KS

El Caballo outran the competition with over 50% of our votes. Customer favorites include Crab Enchiladas, the Gorilla Burrito, and Enchiladas de Oro. Tuesdays and Thursdays you can find $.99 margaritas from 5 PM until close.

Head to your favorite restaurant tonight to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with some of the best Mexican food around.
