CRAWFORD COUNTY CVB ANNOUNCES TWO NEW BOARD MEMBERS

The Crawford County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau is happy to announce that Dave Goble and Alison Dudley have been selected to the organizations ten person Advisory Board. They will be replacing former board members, Ahmad Enayati and Jerry Lomshek, who were ineligible for re-election due to term limits. (Download Full Release)

Apaches and Broncbusters set to play in Football Capital of Kansas Bowl

For the past four years Pittsburg, Kansas has played host to one of the premiere football bowl games in the National Junior College Athletic Association ranks, including the NJCAA National Championship in 2009 and 2010. Formerly known as the Citizen’s Bank Bowl, the game is now the Football Capital of Kansas Bowl. On December 8th at 1 p.m. another great matchup will take place at Carnie Smith Stadium as the Tyler Junior College Apaches take on the Garden City Community College Broncbusters. (Download Full Release)

Football Capital of Kansas Bowl Set to Announce Teams

For the past four years Pittsburg, Kansas has played host to one of the premiere football bowl games in the National Junior College Athletic Association ranks, including the NJCAA National Championship in 2009 and 2010. Formerly known as the Citizen’s Bank Bowl, the game is now the Football Capital of Kansas Bowl. The teams competing in this year’s game will be announced on Tuesday, November 12th during an official press conference. The press conference will take place at 12 p.m. inside the Rua Suite on the west side of Carnie Smith Stadium. (Download Full Release)

CRAWFORD COUNTY WINS AT KANSAS TOURISM CONFERENCE

TOPEKA, KS — The Crawford County Convention & Visitors Bureau was awarded top honors for their marketing efforts by the Travel Industry Association of Kansas (TIAK) on Wednesday.  The awards were announced at the annual Kansas Tourism Conference held in Topeka.  The Crawford County CVB’s Sports Facilities Guide won the award for “Community Awareness.” (Download Full Release)

NJCAA Bowl Game has new name, new energy

US Open preparations continue at Claythorne

Hallowell, Kansas – Preparations continued for the 2014 US Open Sporting Clays Championship as organizers recently met to discuss the details of this monumental undertaking. The event, which will be held at Claythorne Lodge, June 2nd – 8th, has the potential to be one of the largest events the area has ever seen. CRAWFORD COUNTY CVB ANNOUNCE BOARD OPENINGS

The Crawford County Convention and Visitors Bureau Advisory Board is seeking applications to fill two vacating board seats. Due to term limits, two seats will be available for “at-large” members to the board. The CVB Advisory Board is made up of ten Crawford County, Kansas residents. Five members of the board must be direct stakeholders in the travel and tourism industry in Crawford County, including at least three members of the lodging industry. CRAWFORD COUNTY CVB OPENS GRANT PROGRAM

The Crawford County Convention and Visitors Bureau announces the opening of their annual grant program with one major change. Grant applications will now be accepted throughout the year. In years past, grant applications were only accepted for approximately 60 days after opening, normally on September 1st. With this change, 2013 grant applications will be accepted through October 31st, 2013. (Download Full Release)

CRAWFORD COUNTY CVB LAUNCHES NEW WEBSITE

The Crawford County Convention and Visitors Bureau recently launched a new website at www.visitcrawfordcounty.com. According to Crawford County CVB Director B.J. Harris, the best aspect of the new website is flexibility. “Our new site is incredibly easy to use, we’ll actually be populating the information and making changes to the site to fit our marketing needs,” Harris said. “If someone sends me an event, we can have it on the website within minutes.” (Download Full Release)

Press Conference to be held to announce 2014 Kansas Shrine Bowl

A press conference to officially announce the return of the Kansas Shrine Bowl to Pittsburg will be held, Friday, March 16th at 2:30 p.m. at Carnie Smith Stadium on the campus of Pittsburg State University. In the event of inclement weather the conference will be held in the lower level of the Wilkinson Alumni Center at the corner of Joplin and Ford. (Download Full Release)

KANSAS SHRINE BOWL AWARDS 2014 GAME TO PITTBURG

The Crawford County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau is proud to announce that Pittsburg and Pittsburg State University have been awarded the 2014 Kansas Shrine Bowl. Pittsburg and Topeka were the finalist for the 2014 game. Both communities were asked to present proposals in front of the Kansas Shrine Bowl Board of Directors on February 18th. The Board of Directors then made their decision to award the game to Pittsburg on March 3rd. (Download Full Release)

CRAWFORD COUNTY CVB AWARDS GRANTS

Events and organizations ranging from a museum to a bike race were recipients of more than $6,000 in grant funds from the Crawford County Convention and Visitors Bureau. Recipients include the Kansas State Bicycling Championships sponsored by Tailwind Cyclists, the Smokin’ Hot Bar-B-Que and Fireworks presented by the Celebrate Girard! Committee, the PITT Open disc golf tournament and “The Way We Worked” Smithsonian exhibit coming to the Miner’s Hall Museum in 2013. (Download Full Release)
